Verity Scribe is a service operated by Samuel Müller ("Verity", "we"), based in Switzerland. Contact: [email protected]. We are the controller of the account/service data described below. The Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revised FADP) is the primary law governing this service; where users in the EEA/UK are involved, the EU/UK GDPR also applies. For the meeting content you capture, you are the controller and Verity acts as your processor (see Section 11).
The Verity Scribe browser extension captures the audio of your active Google Meet tab, via the Chrome tabCapture API, only after you click Start. The audio goes to the Verity web app at app.verityscribe.com, which transcribes it and generates summaries/insights. By default your recordings, transcripts, and summaries are stored locally on your device; optional cloud backup is opt-in and end-to-end encrypted.
We do not collect your general browsing. The extension runs only on meet.google.com and communicates only with app.verityscribe.com.
Audio → produce your transcript. Transcript/summaries → deliver the product to you. Metadata → organize your recordings. Account data → authenticate you and route opt-in encrypted backups. Diagnostics → maintain, secure, and debug. We do not advertise, sell your data, profile you for marketing, assess creditworthiness, or train our own models on your meeting content.
Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) to provide the service; consent (Art. 6(1)(a), and Art. 9(2)(a) for any special-category content) for optional features like backup; legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) to secure and debug. Under the FADP we process personal data in good faith and proportionately.
By default everything is stored on your device in your browser (IndexedDB), under your control. Deleting a recording in the app, or uninstalling the extension / clearing your browser data, removes that local data.
Off by default, opt-in. When enabled, your data is encrypted on your device with a key derived from your passphrase/device key before it leaves your browser. We never receive or store your key. We store only ciphertext and cannot read, decrypt, or restore backups — including for a legal request. If you lose your key/passphrase, your backup is unrecoverable.
Your recordings and transcripts are stored locally on your device. Audio transcription is performed on Verity's own servers in Switzerland. To generate summaries, transcript text is sent to our AI provider (see Section 7), which may process it outside Switzerland. Where we transfer personal data to a country without an adequate level of protection under the revised Swiss FADP, we rely on appropriate safeguards: the Swiss–US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for transfers to the United States (e.g., OpenAI for summaries), and SCCs together with your explicit consent for any transfer to a country not recognised by Switzerland as adequate. By default, summaries use a US provider (OpenAI), covered by the Swiss–US Data Privacy Framework and/or SCCs. If you opt into a model hosted in a non-adequate country (e.g., GLM via z.ai in China), that transfer happens because of your explicit choice; to avoid it, keep the default US model.
Local data: until you delete it or uninstall. Encrypted backups: until you delete them (ciphertext removed within 30 days). Data sent to the AI provider: retained per Section 7 (OpenAI: up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deleted). Account data: retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period after closure, then deleted or anonymized. You can delete individual recordings, wipe all local data, and delete your account/backups at any time in-app or by contacting [email protected].
Verity records your meeting tab's audio, which includes other participants' voices. You are responsible for the lawful basis and any required consent to record them. Many places require all participants' consent before recording — including Switzerland (Swiss Criminal Code Art. 179ter) and US states such as California, Illinois, and Washington. Tell participants the meeting is being recorded and transcribed, and get their consent where required. Do not use Verity to record conversations you are not lawfully entitled to record.
Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS); end-to-end encryption for opt-in backups; access controls and least-privilege on our servers. No method is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable and appropriate technical and organizational measures.
You may access, rectify, delete, restrict, object to, and port your personal data, and withdraw consent. Swiss FADP: you may request information about, correction of, and deletion of your data, and may contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). GDPR (EU/EEA/UK): rights under Articles 15–22; you may lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. California (CCPA/CPRA): rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out — we do not sell or share your personal information. To exercise any right, contact [email protected].
Verity is not directed to or intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We will update this policy as the product changes and will revise the "Last updated" date. For material changes we will notify you in-app or by email.

Verity Scribe's use of information received through the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically: we use the data only to provide and improve the extension's single purpose (recording and transcribing your Google Meet audio); we do not transfer or sell it to third parties except as necessary to provide that purpose, to comply with law, to prevent fraud/abuse, or in connection with a merger with your consent; we do not use it for personalized advertising; we do not sell it to data brokers or advertising platforms; we do not use it for creditworthiness or lending; and we do not allow humans to read your data except with your explicit consent, in aggregated/anonymized form for internal operations, for security, or as required by law.
